The most important thing that happened on Pentecost was the birth of the church. By the coming of the Holy Spirit a group of 120 scared and confused individuals were transformed to be the beginning of the church that we know of today. Their faith in Christ bonded them to be a tremendously strong and focused ‘new People of God’. They demonstrated this in their actions as well as in their preaching. They were joyful, praised God together, shared their possessions, attended the Mass together, loved one another and cared for one another, spoke the Word of God together, healed many and joyfully accepted suffering for the Kingdom of God. They drew their strength from the Holy Spirit to live as a true community of God. How is our Christian Life today in comparison with the Early Christians? What is preventing us from being like them?
